Build an LGBTQ+-friendly and inclusive community in the Greater Hakodate Area
Our Story
Oct. 2018 Started as a university-community collaboration project at
Hokkaido University of Education (HUE), Hakodate Campus.
June 2019 Organized "Show Your True Colors" @ Hakodate Tsutaya Bookstore
One of the first open-space LGBTQ+ events in Hakodate
300+ participants, 200,000 yen donation collected.
Rainbow socks and badge jointly designed by Hokkaido University of Education and Future University Hakodate students as a quid pro quo for a donation.
July 2019 Participated in the 14th Aomori International LGBT Film Festival.
Presented RHP's activities at HUE Community Projects Conference.
Aug. 2019 RHP became an independent non-profit community organization.
The university-community collaboration project became "HUE
Rainbow Hakodate Project."
Had a meeting with Mr. Toshiki Kudoh, Mayor of Hakodate, and presented RHP's activities. Mayor expressed his support for our efforts to make the city more LGBTQ+-friendly.
Nov. 2019 Won the Grand Prix (stage
session) at the Hakodate
Academic Link 2019.
Co-organized a symposium and workshop "Find your true colours:
Gender, LGBT, Sexual Diversity" with Hakodate Women's Council.
